I have been seeing a statue of Rajiv Gandhi outside my colony since more than 10 years. It is cleaned once on his birthday and the remaining days it stays as it is, silent and full of dust.

Not only Rajiv Gandhi but others too, like Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose and other great men and women. They all have done something extraordinary hence they are given this honor by building their stone structure so that people can see them each day and take lessons from their lives but such things never happen.

Instead these structures are never taken care of and at times pelted with stone, in a way adding insult to injury.People have this habit of forgetting things and maybe that is the reason that they have been forgotten.

I believe if one is to build a structure then it should be that of the bad people so that we can see them and throw stones on them and the birds can clean their stomach on them. This entire system of statues should be thought of.

There is no point in building a statue in honor of a person and put ribbons around it for a day and forget it for the remaining time....
